Install VRT on Firefox
Firefox has a different extension system than Chrome/Edge, but the install is still straightforward. Takes about 2 minutes.
Note: Firefox treats unsigned extensions as "temporary"—they'll be removed when you close Firefox. This is a Firefox security feature. For a permanent install, we recommend using Chrome or Edge, or waiting for our official Firefox Add-on Store release.
Download VRT
Click the button below to download the VRT extension package. It's a .zip file—don't open it yet.
Download for FirefoxExtract the Folder
Find the downloaded .zip file and extract it. You'll get a folder called something like vrt-firefox.
Open Firefox Debugging
Type this into your Firefox address bar and hit Enter:
This opens Firefox's debugging page where you can load temporary extensions.
Load Temporary Add-on
Click the Load Temporary Add-on... button. Navigate to the folder you extracted and select the manifest.json file inside it.
You're Done (For Now)
VRT should now appear in your browser toolbar. Open ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini—VRT will automatically detect your conversations and let you export them.
Troubleshooting
"This add-on could not be installed because it has not been verified"
Make sure you're using about:debugging to load the extension, not dragging it into Firefox or using about:addons. The debugging page allows unsigned extensions.
Extension disappeared after closing Firefox
This is expected behavior. Firefox treats manually-loaded extensions as temporary. You'll need to reload it each time you restart Firefox. For a permanent solution, use Chrome/Edge or wait for our Firefox Add-on Store approval.
VRT doesn't detect my conversations
Make sure you're on a supported site (ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini). Try refreshing the page. If it still doesn't work, reach out to support.
